CAMPAIGN LEAFLET

I was elected MHK for Rushen in September 2021 and served as a political member of the Department of Environment, Food and Agriculture, the Department for Enterprise, the Department of Health and Social Care and the Treasury.  I served as Minister for Infrastructure from November 2024 to January 2026.

Work I've contributed to in Rushen
  • Keeping the Southern Pool open
  • Pushing forward the Castle Rushen High School replacement
  • Completing the design for Port St Mary High Street's reconstruction
  • The bus service to the Sound
  • Mobility scooter access to buses

Across the Island
  • The Animal Welfare Act 2023
  • The plastic bag ban
  • Improved child benefit rates and thresholds
  • Modernised employment law

Page 1 — What I've worked on

Over the last 5 years as your representative I have worked hard to:

  • Put the Island's long term interests first
  • Listen to and act on your concerns
  • Help residents with day-to-day issues
  • Support the community of Rushen
  • Focus on evidence, transparency and value for money
  • Ask challenging questions
  • Tackle big issues and difficult complex decisions
  • Champion a fair, kind and compassionate approach to government

But the work isn't finished and there's still much more to do, and many future challenges to be addressed.

Page 2 — My record since 2021

It was one of the greatest honours of my life to be given your trust and support in 2021 and being able to represent our community as a member of Tynwald.

Since being elected, I've worked across parliament and government — always focused on evidence based decision making, practical solutions and long-term outcomes for the Island. I've applied my business experience and critical thinking skills to a range of topics.

I served as a member of the Departments of Environment, Food and Agriculture, Enterprise and Health and Social Care until February 2024. I joined Treasury and was responsible for Social Security until I was appointed as Minister for Infrastructure in November 2024. Since January this year I have been a backbencher. During my time I have served on a number of Tynwald committees and represented the Island at international meetings and conferences.

I have dealt with both national issues and those affecting our local community. I have worked with a number of local community groups, three sets of Commissioners and Rushen residents. And I've Hunted the Wren…

Page 3 — What I've delivered

During various roles in Government and Tynwald I have been able to progress various policies, strategies and legislation including the following:

  • Increased child benefit
  • Supported parents at SPLM and Rushen
  • Expanded bereavement leave to early pregnancy loss
  • Improved tobacco and nicotine regulation
  • Approved mobility scooter access to buses
  • Developed options for later life care funding
  • Cost of living support and energy support measures
  • Flood risk assessment and prevention
  • 8S bus service (Peel – Foxdale – Sound)
  • Established a Housing Agency to tackle the need for affordable housing
  • Helped Local Authorities to develop housing plans
  • Completed the survey work to rebuild Port St Mary High Street
  • Supported Assisted Dying legislation
  • Tackled footpath maintenance and access issues
  • Supported development of derelict sites
  • Single use plastic reduction
  • Disposable vape ban
  • Developed the plan to keep Southern pool open
  • Animal Welfare Bill and codes of practice
  • Delivered an Island-wide road speed consultation
  • Developed a comprehensive waste strategy
  • Ensured politicians pay fairly for parking
  • Brought the Dept of Infrastructure in on budget by controlling head count and spending

Page 4 — How to vote

A general election will be held on September 24th 2026. Polling stations will be open from 8am to 8pm. You can vote at any polling station within your constituency.
